Office Hours
Our North Andover and Salem offices are open Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Patients who call the office with an urgent need after hours will be referred by our answering service to the on-call or covering physician.

Scheduling an Appointment
Appointments should be scheduled in advance, except for emergencies. Please call the office most convenient for you. The North Andover number is (978) 794-1946. The phone number in Salem is (603) 898-2220. We do our best to see scheduled patients promptly. Occasionally, however, a patient with an orthopaedic emergency requires immediate attention. If this situation delays scheduled appointments, we will try our best to minimize your waiting time and/or offer to reschedule.

Initial Visit
At the time of your first visit, please bring films or reports of any completed imaging or other studies, including x-rays, CT scans, MRIs and EMGs. Also helpful are any pertinent records from other treating physicians and a list of your current medications.

If you are a member of an HMO then you are required to have a formal referral to our office from your primary care physician and/or insurance company. You are responsible for obtaining the referral before you come to the office.

Canceling and Appointment
We appreciate 24 hours notice if you cannot keep a scheduled appointment. This helps avoid delays and allows us to see other patients.

Emergencies
Patients with serious injuries or life threatening emergencies should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Patients with an urgent need during office hours should call the office and let the receptionist know the reason for the call. Urgent calls are put through to a practitioner immediately. Patients may be asked to come to the office. If you have any doubt whether an emergency should be considered life threatening then we encourage you to err on the side of caution and call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Prescription Renewals
You may call our office with a prescription renewal request at any time during office hours. We try to honor all requests for prescription renewals within 24 hours.

For a prescription renewal please have ready the name of the medication, the prescription number and the name and telephone number of the pharmacy.

Call the office 1-2 days before needing a new prescription. Make sure you have enough medication for weekends and holidays since we do not process prescription renewals during these times.

We cannot prescribe medications by phone for patients not seen or conditions not diagnosed and/or treated in our offices.

Insurance and Billing
Orthopaedics Northeast has contracts with all of the large regional HMOs, including HMO Blue, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Fallon Community Health Plan, Tufts, Cigna and Aetna. We also accept a number of private insurances, including Blue Shield, Medicare and Medicaid. Please call the office if you have any concerns about whether we accept your insurance.

Orthopaedics Northeast submits routine claims for payment. However, it is your responsibility to work directly with your insurance company to resolve any problems that arise.

You are responsible for all co-payments at the time of your office visit.
